What is a healthy BMI range?
A healthy BMI for most adults is between 18.5 and 24.9. Below 18.5 is classed as underweight, 25 to 29.9 is overweight, and 30 or above is obese. These bands are general guides only and do not account for muscle mass, age, pregnancy or medical conditions, so treat them as a starting point.
How is BMI calculated from height and weight?
BMI is your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres squared. For example, a person weighing 70 kilograms at 1.75 metres has a BMI of about 22.9. This tool does the conversion for you, including feet, inches and pounds, and shows the result to one decimal place.
What is my healthy weight range?
Your healthy weight range is the weight that would put your BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 at your height. Enter your height and the tool calculates the lower and upper weights in your chosen unit. Staying inside this range is a useful general goal, but individual health advice should come from a clinician.
